The democratization of publishing

As a writer, and as someone who has recently taken on the gig of promoting the work of self-published authors, and just as someone who finds the world wide web akin to the the invention of the first printing press, I have been thinking a lot the last year or two about the democratization of publishing. I love hearing it referred to as a revolution - a bonafide one where the people really have taken back the power held by so few for so long. It is amazing how much things have changed in so short a period of time, and how there is no end in sight to the revolution. It just keeps steamrolling forward, and it's happening by the power of the pen, so to speak. Writers have made this revolution happen. It is thrilling to be part of the surf pack riding out this killer curl.
